For sale is a 2003, Made in Korea Epiphone Les Paul Custom in white. I bought this as a project to refurb and now it's finished it's time to sell it. The guitar's in good condition, main things to note are: a spiral crack in the lacquer near the bridge, a dent/crack where someone (not me) attempted to fix the bridge (more on that later) using force, and mild blemishes and discolouring in the finish, as well as some significant tarnishing on the machine heads and bridge. There's the usual light scratches from playing, but no major dinks, scratches or fret wear. Pots are crackle-free, tuning is stable and the guitar has been set-up professionally by me (I work in a guitar shop doing set ups and general maintenance) with 0.011s, a tad heavy but they sing beautifully on this guitar. The lacquer's aged to a gorgeous cream rather than the alpine white it was originally. Looks fantastic! The main repair I did on this guitar was to fix the bridge posts in place. When I got the guitar they were loose and could be pulled out easily. I fixed these in place using a dowel and epoxy putty to fill the holes and redrilled and sanded them. They're good and solid in the holes now, and tuning and playability aren't affected. I replaced the pickups with a set of as-new Epiphone pickups from a Les Paul Black Beauty. The ones that were fitted were very strange-sounding so I put some nice-sounding ones in in their place. I also rewired it to '50s-style wiring so the tone is much clearer and it sounds much better as a result. Tone-wise this sounds more like a '57-58 LP rather than a later model; the pickups aren't as high output and sound much warmer and smoother- very nice sounding compared to a lot of Epis I've played. It plays really well as well, intonation is spot on and the action is low, but with no fretbuzz. Any questions, feel free to contact me. I'm looking for £280 for the guitar, with an optional hard case for £30. Would rather cash on collection but I can arrange a courier for another £20. If you want me to send it I will only send in a hard case, too much experience of valuable instruments being broken to want to even think about risking it I'm afraid. I'm open to reasonable offers. No trades though, and I'll only think about part-exes if you have something interesting to me.
